Facebook Fan Referral Contest!

So I'm going to have a Facebook referral contest!!

The person who refers the MOST people to my Facebook page will win $10 in cash (via Paypal) & a big coupon prize pack.

The second place prize is $5 cash a big coupon prize pack.

Here are the rules:

1. Individuals on Facebook may participate. "Fan Pages" cannot. Feel free to tag or share a link on your personal page to refer your friends to "like' my page. Please do not refer people from your fan page for this contest (you may refer them to my page but just not for the contest!)
   
2. Each new "fan" needs to leave a comment on my wall with the name of the person that referred them. That's the only way I can keep up with who has made the most referrals. Again - real name - NOT the name of a "Fan Page"
   
3. A new fan that you refer may also participate by referring people.
4. Only "new" likes will count. Getting someone who has already been a fan (prior to the start of the contest - 11pm cst on 6/14/11) to post they were referred by you will NOT count. I can sort my "fan" list by newest likes so I can check this!
   
5. The contest stops when I reach 3000 or when I call it over. (If I happen to not be online when I reach the 3000 mark then referrals can continue until I post that the contest is over)

7. When the winners are picked I will post it on the blog and Facebook and give you 48 hours to respond.

$aving Toward A Better Life  and Buzzing the Day Away have teamed up to bring you this hop aimed at gaining more Fans to "like" your Facebook page, as well as allowing you to check out some new pages you may not have known about!

If you would like a ticket for this train, all you have to do is follow these steps:

1. Check out the Facebook pages of the two engineers (also known as the hostesses);  $aving toward a better life and Buzzing the day away. Facebook Featured Blog - Linda's Lunacy

Linda's Lunacy is the journal of a Christian stay at home, homeschooling mother of 6, who likes scrapbooking, reading, crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her family.

If you read my blog often, you know it's my desire to turn our two income household into a one income household so I can fulfill my dream of being a stay-at-home mom.  And, I never thought I would, but I'm beginning to want to add "homeschooling" to that as well!

So I'm always fascinated when I come across a blog of a homeschooling mom.  And when I find a homeschooling stay-at-home mom to SIX kids, my jaw hits the ground!  I currently follow THREE blogs of mom's who homeschool six kids.  If they can stay home with six kids, then SURELY we'll be able to make it with just one (or hopefully two, in the future).  So I follow their blogs to keep reminding myself that if they can make it work, then I will get to that point too! 


I've been enjoying reading Linda's blog this week.  I'm glad she joined the Thursday's Train!

How much do I spend/save on an average grocery shopping trip?

This question was asked to me by a reader who also happens to be my cousin.  I thought it was a fabulous question!  (Thanks Tess!)

She actually asked me on Facebook, but since it was on my personal page and not the blog page, all my wonderful followers didn't get to read the conversation.

So, here is the Facebook conversation we had:

Tess:  I went grocery shopping today. Armed with tons of coupons, lol. The only thing better than coupons is doubling coupons, hehe. Anyway. I don't know why I haven't asked this before, but how much do you usually spend at the grocery store?

Me: My monthly budget is $300. That includes groceries and anything I buy at CVS or Walgreens (diapers, shampoo etc...) I go to Winn-Dixie just about every Saturday. An average trip is $50. If it's a really good sale week, I might spend close to $70. If it's an off week, I may only spend $30

Tess: So about how much money's worth of groceries do you get with the $50?

Me:  I've been averaging a 50-65% savings at Winn-Dixie lately. So for $50, I can get $100 to $120 worth of stuff. The goal is for the amount under "You Saved" to be higher than what you actually spent. :)))

Tess:  Wow. That's awesome. I do pretty good, but I haven't gotten that good yet.

Me:  My personal best was a small trip I made on Christmas eve. I spent $23 and SAVED $65! (So, $88 worth of stuff $23!) That includes sale prices, not just coupons. (Like if something is BOGO, then the cost of one of the items is factored into the savings amount.)
