Check out my awesome haul from CVS last week!

I know this was last week's sale and I hate sharing things that you can't do anymore, BUT this was SO Awesome, I just HAD to share!  I hope you don't mind!

I got everything in this picture:
3 12pks Mtn Dew
2 Crest toothpaste
6 boxes of Kleenex
4 John Freida products
Zantac
Cottonelle toilet paper
Scott paper towels
2 Xtra detergents
Tide detergent
and not pictured:
2 Oral B toothbrushes
and a $10 Gas Card

My total OOP (including tax!) was $15.71 AND I ended up with $8 ECBs left!!!  (I did a couple transactions so I rolled some of my ECBs but still ended up with $8 left over)

Another successful coupon trip to Walmart!

I spent $5.76 on all this last week!

The t-shirt was $1.00 after coupon.  ($5 off from All You - expired)

The batteries were 97c each.  I used $1/2 Rayovac Alkaline or Hearing Aid Batteries, exp. 7/31/11 (SS 06/05/11) and paid $2.82 for all of them.

The Danonino's were 97c after $1/1 Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack, exp. 7/31/11 (SS 06/05/11) coupons.

I spent less on all 9 items than the shirt cost at regular price!

Food Giant trip today!

Couponing To Disney's Food Giant deals
I went to Food Giant today with Kristin from Couponing to Disney.  I didn't take a picture of my stuff because I was hot and tired by the time I got home and had half of it put up before I remembered to take a picture.  :(

But, it's okay cause here is Kristin's picture from Food Giant today!

She got $60 worth of groceries (including 9 lbs of chicken!) for $34.

My total was $59.16 before coupons and $28.16 (plus tax) after!  I love double coupon day!

Couponing at Walmart

I am not the biggest fan of Walmart. I started couponing to avoid Walmart. I feel like every time I walk in that store a piece of my soul is stolen away from me!

But all that aside, their new coupon policy has made it a little nicer to shop there. I had a very pleasant (well, ok...it wasn't pleasant but it wasn't tortuous either...) visit a couple weeks ago.

I got all this in the picture, plus 2 bags of Tidy Cats Litter and a small bag of M&Ms (somehow, the candy never makes it into the picture...) And yes, the step stool was part of the purchase as well (the most item at $4.97)

Retail cost was $37.44. I paid $15.09 +tax!!! That's 60% in savings just with coupons!

The most notable thing about Walmart's coupon policy is that it allows for overage.

In this purchase, the three Dial lotions, two travel size shampoos, Dove bar soap and two small lint rollers all resulted in overage. The lotions were $1.97 and I had $2 coupons. The lint rollers were 94c and the other three items were 97c - all of which I had $1 coupons for! Which means I "made" 30c off those items (of course, it went right into the other things I bought).

I paid 77c/ea for the two bags of cat litter (not pictured) after coupon. The cat treats were 57c/ea after coupons. The Benadryl sticks in the back were 28c after coupon. The big pack of toilet paper ($2.98 after coupon) and the step stool were the only things in my transaction that I paid over $1 for!

I used Couponing to Disney's AWESOME under $1 list for Walmart to make my shopping list!

Baby Shower Gifts on a budget

How does a budget savvy person shop for baby gifts? By shopping even when you don't need a baby gift. Walgreens diapers for $2.99? I'll take 4 packs thank-you-very-much. Onesies for a dollar on the clearance rack at Target and Walmart? I'll take one in every size!

I am all about keeping things on hand for gifts. And baby showers are no exception! A couple cute outfits, some diapers and wipes, or bath stuff make a great gift and there's nothing wrong with getting it at a bargain!

My sis-in-law is having a baby in July and I've been buying like a crazy person since we found out! Even though this is her fifth baby, we are all so stinkin' excited that she's having a BOY this time, that we are throwing a baby shower today! Here's everything I'm taking to the shower and I'm going to tell you how much I paid for it all! (Want to go ahead and take a guess now?)

I'll start at the top of the picture and work down:

Giraffe rattle and burp clothes - FREE (from a review I did for CradleJoy.com)
Baby Wipes - 98c at Walmart
Luvs Diapers - $5.78 at Food Giant after sale and double coupon
Walgreens Diapers - $2.99 past deal - stocked up on several packs and have given at baby showers over the last few months!
Assorted Clothes - $12.00 for 4 onesies, 3 pairs of pants, 1 romper and shoes - all bought on clearance at Walmart and Target

3 Bottles baby bath and lotion - $4.34 for all - clearance at Winn-Dixie
Board Book - 25c at a yard sale - looks like new!
Johnson's Safety Swabs - FREE from Target a long time ago and never used them with Bug

Grand Total: $29.09!!

I filled three bags with 19 baby items for under $30! What was the last thing you purchased for a baby shower and how much did you spend? :)

Food Giant Bargain Brag

So yesterday was double coupon day at Food Giant where the double up to $1!!

Everything in this picture would've been $31.63 without coupons.

With (3) $1 off Tidy Cats, (3) 75c off Glad, 50c off Puffs, $1 off Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers and $1 off Marie Callendar's Meals (all doubled), I saved $17.50. (That doesn't factor in that the trash bags and cat litter were on sale making my savings off regular retail even higher. That was $17.50 from just 9 coupons!)

I paid $$14.13 (before tax)!

Like I said, the Glad and Tidy Cats were on sale. But the other items were still good deals even though they weren't on sale. I had a 50c off Puffs coupon that was about to expire making the tissues on 36c! And the dinners were $2.98. I had a $1 off coupon for each of them making each only 98c! (Compare taking those to work for lunch vesus eating out and I've saved a ton! I've got two lunches for what an order of fries costs!)

Walgreens Bargain Brag

I hate to "brag" when the sale is over but I didn't do my shopping until late in the week. I got everything in the picture for $6.90 plus tax and I got $5.50 in RR back!

The Color Wonder packs I found on clearance and were FREE after coupons! So keep your eyes peeled for them at your store.

The socks were on clearance for 50c (great filler items!) Some of the Color Wonder and socks are going in my Operation Christmas Child box.

The Oscar Mayer Sandwiches were FREE for both after sale, coupons and $1 RR back.

Finish was $1.24 after sale, coupons and $1.50 RR back.

Old Spice Body was $1.66 for all three after sale, coupons and $3 RR back.

Using my RR I got from this transaction ($3 from Old Spice and $1 from Oscar Meyer) I went back two times and all together got two more Finish tab packs, 500 W brand napkins (on clearance for 75c!), Mickey Mouse Go Fish game (only $1) and a bottle of water and some M&M's (what can I say, I needed a snack!). I spend $5.40 on both transactions and got a total of $3 back in RR ($1.50 on each Finish).

I would say this was a good week at Walgreens!Link

What can $5 do?

Amee at Madame Deals was given $50 for a "Pay it Forward" challenge. She decided to entrust other bloggers with $5 each to see what good they could do with their $5!

Since I have been trying to do my part for the disaster relief efforts in my area after devastating tornadoes on April 27th, I knew my $5 would go toward more donation items. Several lists have been posted by the organization heading up our local efforts on items needed. They'll update as new needs come along. But at the top of every list is diapers, wipes, baby formula, diaper cream and infant/toddler snacks. Oh, that just breaks my heart! I couldn't imagine being a mother trying to care for her baby in this situation - many people lost their homes, their cars, their spouses, their children, their parents - to be a new mom with all the stress that brings and to suddenly lose your home too... I knew I had to provide something to help!

Bug is potty training so I boxed up the diapers I had left around here and took it with my first round of donations. But I wanted to do more than just diapers.

So here's what I did for my $5 challenge:
I headed to Walmart with (4) $5 off any Similac product coupons and purchased these four 1qt bottles of ready-to-feed formula at $3.84 each.

4 Similac @ 3.84 each = $15.36
2 Gerber Snacks @ $3 each = $6.00

subtotal: $21.36
-$5 off Similac coupons (x4!) = $20 off
=$1.36 plus tax ($3.50 final total)

Well, that left me with $1.50 left to spend so I had to see what I could do with that! I went to CVS:

I got 2 Nivea for women body wash (each had a sample size lotion attached!), one Nivea for men body wash, one colgate toothpaste, and 2 Right Guard deodorants (each had a body wash attached to it!)

Before coupon cost: $32.84

After coupons (I had a coupon on everything plus $14 ECBs to use): 58c

plus tax ($2.01) =$2.59

So the total of both transactions is $6.09. I know I went over BUT from CVS I got $9.77 in ECBs back to use on a future purchase! So it's almost like getting everything for FREE since I made money back on it!

Here's everything together:

Again all this is going to help victims of tornadoes in Alabama. All for just a little over $5.

Next time you think $5 can't do much - remember this! In a couponer's hand $5 is worth alot!

Wal-Mart Bargain Brag - $21 worth for $3.50!

If you haven't check out Wal-Mart's New Coupon Policy, you should!

The new coupon policy allows for overages. Meaning, if the value of the coupon is more than the value of the item, you will still get the value of the coupon taken off your order.

The Similac bottles were $3.84. I had a coupon for $5 off any Similac purchase. Usually stores will either (a) deny the coupon or (b) manually enter the coupon value as the cost of the item still making the item free (of course, the store still gets the face value of the coupon back.

So here's how it looks:
4 Similac @ 3.84 each = $15.36
2 Gerber Snacks @ $3 each = $6.00

Total: $21.36

- (4) $5 off Similac Coupons
= $20 off my order even though the value of the Similac was only $15.36!

I used the other items to "absorb my overage".

After my $20 in coupons, my total was $1.36. Tax was $2.14 (10% of the pre-coupon price..UGH!) so final cost was $3.50.

I am donating these items
. More on that later!

Mother's Day is Sunday!

Ok, so Mother's Day is Sunday.  Yeah, 5 days!

I had to get NINE Mother's Day Cards, yes...nine of them.

Have you priced cards lately?  They average $3 a card!!!  It would've cost me $27+ to buy greeting cards at Publix, Walmart, CVS or any number of other places!

I stopped at the Dollar Tree yesterday and picked up some cards.  They had a GREAT selection.  And guess what?  Their cards are 2/$1.00 everyday.

Yeah, I know, other stores have 99c cards - but it's only like 2 or 3 for any given occasion..not the best selection.  But Dollar Tree has a huge selection and they're all 50c!

If you need to save a little cash, try picking up your greeting cards from Dollar Tree from now on!

Publix Bargain Brag - saved 60%!

I don't shop Publix much but sometimes they have enough deals to justify a trip!  I had coupons that were expiring on 4/30 for some of these items too!  So I went Friday.

I got:
FOUR 4pks Starbucks Frappucino
ONE Freschetta Pizza by the Slice
TWO 3lb bags Purina Cat Food
TWO boxes Aunt Jemima waffles
TWO 4ct Yoplait Delights
TWO Pillsbury Sweet Moments Brownie Bites
TWO boxes Jose Ole Taquitos
Total Shelf Cost = $63.02
I paid = $25.01 (before tax)

That's a savings of $38.01 or 60.3%!

To put it perspective - the Frappucino drinks were $4.99 each.  So to buy 4 of them without coupons would've cost $19.98.  For just $5.03 more than that, I got EVERYTHING ELSE!

Also, the Freschetta Pizza is eligible for a $1.99 rebate.  So after rebates - savings is $40 and spent is $23.02!!

I love the thrift store!

I've already told you how much I love yard sales.  But I also love thrift stores!

There is a little thrift store down the road from me that frequently runs a 25 for $20 sale.

The picture is bad because I had to take it with my phone but I got:
2 pairs of shorts for my son
3 shirts for my son
2 outfits for my soon-to-be-nephew
18 shirts for ME!

All for $20!!

All were free of holes and stains and none were worn looking.  Of everything I bought, only two of the shirts didn't fit (I'm pretty good at eyeballing the sizes and I knew these two would be iffy - but I wanted to try them).

The name brands of the clothes included:
