I just recently got an iPhone and am navigating the world of "apps". There are many useful FREE apps and many of my favorite stores have apps!

Today's app information comes from Jaime at Time2Save.  She told me about the Grocery iQ app.

If you're a list-maker, this app's you! The iPhoneAppBlog (in March 2010) named it "Best in Class" and "One of the 5 Hottest Apps". You can scan the barcodes of products you use regularly using the camera. You can create lists for multiple stores. The list of things it supposedly does goes on and on. I'm going to add this app and try it out, I'll let you know what I think!


I think I might have to try this one too!  Just search for the name in the App store and you should have no trouble finding it!

There's an APP for that - Potty Training

I just recently got an iPhone and am navigating the world of "apps". There are many useful FREE apps and many of my favorite stores have apps!


Yes, there is seriously an app for potty training! It's the Pullups iGo Potty App! (just search "potty" in the app store). And it's a hit at our house! You can set the app (the "potty") to call however often you want it too (or you can just open it and have it call "on demand"). Then your child has to "answer" (push the green button) and a little tune plays while they go potty. If they have a successful trip to the potty they get rewarded with a "sticker" and collecting 10 stickers unlocks a game (3 games total on the app)

I think this app is hilarious but it works! Then the potty "calls", Bug will answer and go (or at least try). Now we are at the stage of potty training where he is starting to ask to go potty when he needs to instead of having to be reminded constantly. But instead of "Mommy, I need to go potty!" he says, "Get your phone, Mommy! I gotta potty call!" ROFL!

We love this app.

Walmart has a app. You can use the Walmart app to view rollbacks and even purchase them right from your phone! You can view the local ad, track an order you've placed, refill a prescription and even have pictures sent to a Walmart photo lab for developing in 1 hour!

There's an APP for that - Coupons.com

I just recently got an iPhone and am navigating the world of "apps". There are many useful FREE apps and many of my favorite stores have apps!

Coupons.com has an app (just search "coupons.com" in the app store) and if you are able to print to a wireless-enabled printer from your phone, you can send coupons directly to the printer from your phone!

You can also load coupons onto your store card if you have a loyalty card from a Safeway, Vons, Genuardi's, Carrs, Randalls, Dominick's, Pavilions or Tom Thumb.

I just recently got an iPhone and am navigating the world of "apps". There are many useful FREE apps and many of my favorite stores have apps!

The daily deal site, Groupon, has an app! It's free and available for Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone/iPod touch — and now for iPad and Windows Phone 7, too. Use the Groupon app to find, buy, and redeem awesome Groupon deals — from just about anywhere.

Wow! You can not only buy them from your phone, you can redeem them from your phone as well!

If you are already a Groupon user - check your e-mail for a message from Groupon about the app. If you received the e-mail then you are eligible for $10 in Groupon Bucks if you purchase a deal using the APP before 6/28/11!

There's an APP for that - Target

I just recently got an iPhone and am navigating the world of "apps". There are many useful FREE apps and many of my favorite stores have apps!

Target has an app like all the other stores I've talked about, with the weekly ad and a list feature and store finder, etc. But what makes the Target app so great is the ability to sign up for mobile coupons. About once a week you'll get a text message with Target coupons in it. Open the link in the message and there will be a barcode that the cashier can scan to apply your coupon!

I just got two coupons when I signed up: 20% off a Merona item and $1 off any Up&Up item $3 or more.

Just search "Target" in the app store.

I just recently got an iPhone and am navigating the world of "apps". There are many useful FREE apps and many of my favorite stores have apps!

Publix has their own app where you can choose your store location (I love how it lists the store hours and telephone number!) and view the weekly ad - either in print form or alphabetically by brand or category! You can even do a search to see if something you need is on sale! I did not see a "shopping list" feature on this app.

There's an APP for that - In-store retail coupons

I just recently got an iPhone and am navigating the world of "apps". There are many useful FREE apps and many of my favorite stores have apps!

Coupon Sherpa has a list with every major retail store and the current coupons available for them (in-store, not online). Most stores will accept these coupons directly from your smartphone. The store can either scan them (if they have an optical scanner) or key in the numbers under the barcode.

So, if I'm at Kohl's and I forgot my coupons, all I have to do is pull up Coupon Sherpa on my phone, select Kohl's from the list and there's my coupon! Or if I'm out somewhere unexpectedly, like the local Gap Outlet, and I find some amazing deals I can make it even better by finding a coupon on Coupon Sherpa!

Ever see something in the store and wonder, is that really a good price? Is it the best price?

Well, if you have the Bakodo or the Amazon Price Check app, you never have to wonder. The app uses the camera function on your phone to "scan" the product bar code and bring up information about the item, average prices and where else you can get it! With the Amazon Price Check app you can even purchase the item from Amazon's website on your phone!

There's an APP for that - Store Loyalty Cards

I just recently got an iPhone and am navigating the world of "apps". There are many useful FREE apps and many of my favorite stores have apps!


Key Ring allows you to get rid of all the store cards hanging on your key ring. You simply take a picture of your rewards card and store it in the app. Then when you get to the store pull up your store card on your smart phone and scan it at the register.

It is available for Android, Blackberry, Iphone and Windows phone. That should cover almost everyone.

So check out Key Ring today. You can get rid of all those cards and still save money!

I just recently got an iPhone and am navigating the world of "apps". There are many useful FREE apps and many of my favorite stores have apps!

CVS actually has two apps. The CVS app has a store locator, your store's weekly ad and the capability of making a shopping list right on your phone from the ad! You can also refill a prescription (much like you would over the phone) and view your prescription history.

There is also a CVS Photo app that allows you to take photos with your phone and upload them directly to CVS and order prints! How cool is that??

Best of all, they are both FREE!
