Happy 4th of July!

Oh beautiful, for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain.
For purple mountains majesties, above the fruited plains.
America, America, God shed his grace on thee.
And crowned thy good with brotherhood
from sea to shining sea!

Happy Independence Day!

There will be some deals and some posts on the blog today for those of you who are around. But I hope everyone is spending time with family today and giving thanks for the free country that we live in!

May God continue to bless us and our country!

"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Happy Easter!

Now after the Sabbath, near dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to take a look at the tomb.

And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled the boulder back and sat upon it.

His appearance was like lightning, and his garments as white as snow.

And those keeping guard were so frightened at the sight of him that they were agitated and they trembled and became like dead men.

But the angel said to the women, Do not be alarmed and frightened, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, Who was crucified.

He is not here; He has risen, as He said He would do. Come, see the place where He lay.

Then go quickly and tell His disciples, He has risen from the dead!

Matthew 28:1-7 (The Amplified Bible)

Living He loved me.  Dying He saved me.
Buried He carried my sins far away.
Rising he justified, freely forever
And one day He's coming,
OH GLORIOUS DAY!

Good Friday

Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed.
When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left.
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
-Luke 23: 32-34

Wishing you a day of remembrance of what our Lord did for us.  May you be blessed this Easter season!

Seven Days Of Thanksgiving - Today I am Thankful For...

"Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song."  Psalm 95:2

Today, I am thankful for my church.

I have spent more years at this church than any other.  I attended here from the age of 11 to 16.  And even though life took me to other churches for a while, I came back "home" 3 years ago.  And I hope I don't leave again.  ;)

Seven days of Thanksgiving - Today I am Thankful for...

...him.

That's my husband.

We met at 17, married at 21 and statistically probably shouldn't be where we are now.
We've been to heck and back in the last 10 years: health issues, infertility, the death of my Mom, job losses...

But we always come out on the right side of it.

I say we've made it as far as we have because we're both too stubborn to quit.  :)))

Veteran's Day

If you can read this, thank a teacher.  If you are reading it in English, thank a veteran.

Jesus Christ gave his life to save my soul.

The American Soldier died to save my freedom.

Thank a Veteran today.

When I consider Your heavens,
the work of Your fingers,
the moon and the stars which you have set in place,
what is man that You are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
Oh, Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is Your Name in all the earth!
Psalm 8:3-5 & 9

My husband and I are reading a great book, When God Whispers Your Name by Max Lucado.

This verse was part of our study the other night and it has stuck with me the last couple days:

"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."  - Philippians 1:6

"
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
-Isaiah 40:31

Just when I thought that I had everything worked out and I was fixing our finances and I had it under control, I was reminded that it's not me.  In the last month, my husband lost his job (but fortunately quickly found another one!) and we had to get a new car.  I was SO disappointed because I thought we were finally stable!!
But it all reminded me that it's not me.
Hope in the Lord.  Not hope in me.

Happy Independence Day!

If you will allow me to be deep and opinionated for a moment...

I think many times we lose sight of what today is about as it has become known simply as "the 4th of July".  The 4th of July is just a date... same as the 3rd of October or 17th of January.

INDEPENDENCE DAY however, is a holiday.

So I hope, between the BBQs and pools, picnics and sun, ice cream and fireworks, that you would take time to remember the holiday, not just the date.

A big thank you to everyone who has served and is serving our country so that we can celebrate this holiday.

Happy Independence Day!

God Bless America!

Daily Inspiration - Praise the Lord!

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
       Praise the LORD.

-Psalm 150:6

This article was passed along to me.  Scientists have discovered that the flares that come out from the sun vibrate much like musical instruments do.  They have recorded these sounds.  Now, while the article in itself is purely scientific, one who believes in the Creator of All Things would see what the scientists cannot.  Everything that was created was created for the glory of God.  For thousands of years (yes, I said thousands because I do not believe the earth is "millions" of years old)  the sun has been "praising" it's Creator with music.

Jesus told the Pharisees in Luke 19:40 that if the people did not sing His praises then the stones themselves would cry out to Him.  How amazing is it that the Creator set the sun in universe not only to sustain life but to sing His praises?

Daily Inspiration

I took this picture in my yard yesterday.  My lilies are in full bloom.  I was reminded of these words from Jesus:

"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?  And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?"   - Matthew 6:27-30
